The first thing I notice when looking at this data is, actually, the
lack of data. When researching this many countries seem to not report
their mental health expendature, making it hard or even impossible to
aquire this information, this doesn't seem to have any theme howevever,
as higher income counties such as the Netherlands and Beligum seem to
have this information missing the same as lower income countries such as
Northern Macedonia and Montenegro.
However, a clear commonality can be seen between the west of Europe,
spending much more per capita on mental health services than post soviet
countries. Had more data been collected on coutnries such as Slovakia
and Romania the idea of an 'iron curtain' may have been more visible.
Although, A correlation can be seen with Baltic and some Balkan
countries between suicide rates and mental health expendature. With
countries such as Ukraine having very high suicide rates and relatively
low mental health expendature.
